Kelanrowe Ragdoll Cats and Kittens
Registered Breeder of Quality Ragdoll Kittens, Newcastle and Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia
1. Is it true that male ragdolls are more affectionate?
While each cat has its own individual personality, my personal experience (and that of other breeders I know) is that the adult boys tend to be more sooky and smoochy. This does not mean that girls are not affectionate, but they do like to be a little more independent than the boys.
2. Why buy your kitten from a registered breeder?
Purebred kittens are like designer handbags. Sounds crazy but it's true. We all know that there is the authentic designer bag then there are the cheap knock offs. The real designer bags are hand crafted, made with care and attention to detail. They are good quality and you know you are getting what you pay for, the real thing! Cheap knock offs are slapped together in sweatshops from substandard materials. They appear similar to the real thing but look closely and it is clear they are just an imitation. Sadly they often dont last as long as the real deal because they are not well made.
It is the same with registered purebred kittens. A kitten from a registered breeder comes with a pedigree that proves it is the breed they say it is. Unregistered breeders just breed cats that look like the real thing. The only difference between kittens and designers bags (aside from the fur!) is that kittens from registered breeders don't cost more. In some cases they cost less especially when they have vaccinations, microchipping and desexing included in the price. Registered breeders follow the standards set by their associations and breed for love not money.
So buyer beware. Dont make the mistake of buying your kitten from an unregistered breeder. Why have a cheap knock off when you can have the real thing?"

3. What are the main characteristics of the Ragdoll?
Ragdolls are "people-oriented" cats who love to be with humans and attach strongly to their owners. They run to greet you at the door, follow you from room to room, flop on you, sleep with you, and love you. They are gentle, carefully avoid scratching people, and are good with children, the elderly, and dogs. Ragdolls tend to be floor cats, not jumpers. They feel that humans prefer purrs to yowls, and keep their voices softly musical.
4. What colours and patterns can Ragdolls be?
Ragdolls are available in six colours and three patterns. These include the Seal (Dark Brown) Chocolate (Milk Chocolate), Blue (Slate Grey/ Blue), Lilac (Lavender Grey), Red/Flame (Apricot) and Cream (Pale Cream/Apricot) colours and the patterns are Bi-colour, Mitted and Colourpoint.
The Colourpoint pattern is your basic Siamese coat pattern. With colour on all the 'points' (head, legs and tail) and a pale body.
The Bi-colour is the same with a white inverted V blaze on the face, all white legs and white underbelly. The Mitted pattern is the same as the colourpoint with a white chin, white mittens on their feet, white underbelly and a small blaze above the nose can occur. All patterns occur with all colour patterns and pale body colour, all Ragdolls have blue eyes. You can find sample photos, in RAGANZ, Ragdolls in Australia and New Zealand.
